Asseco provides IT systems for 9 hospitals in Kuyavian-Pomeranian Province

Asseco acted as a general contractor of the e-health project carried for the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Province. The company was responsible for the informatization of 9 hospitals out of the total of 21 medical centers covered by this initiative.

The main element of the project was to implement a hospital information system (HIS), which was accomplished by Asseco with the help its proprietary system called Asseco Medical Management Solutions (AMMS). The project completed by the company was worth nearly PLN 11 million.

AMMS software helps manage the operations of medical facilities that are engaged in the provision of miscellaneous healthcare services. The system enables efficient organization of treatment processes by storing and sharing all patient records in electronic form. The system supports medical personnel in their daily routines, among others, at the admissions offices, consultation rooms, hospital wards, emergency and rescue departments, laboratories, and hospital pharmacies.

In addition, Asseco was required to integrate its solution with RIS/PACS type systems. Such tools are dedicated to Diagnostic Imaging Departments and Radiological Laboratories. These systems make it possible to save medical test results, including X-ray images, and to attach them to the patient’s records. This enables digital archiving and efficient access to all saved documents.

“Our IT solutions enable faster diagnosis of patients, contributing to their more effective treatment and shorter stay at the hospital,” said Dariusz Warmons, Sales Manager, Asseco Poland S.A. “Medical personnel have been equipped with highly powerful and intuitive software, which is already used by more than 190 hospitals all over Poland,” he added.

The project was initiated by the Marshal’s Office of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Province in Toruń within the framework of a broader programme called “e-Services – e-Organization – A package of IT solutions for organizational units of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Province”.

AMMS is a comprehensive IT solution dedicated to hospitals, polyclinics, medical centers, outpatient clinics and emergency departments. AMMS features a number of functionalities for the identification of patients, including registration of referrals with the help two-dimensional barcodes, as well as retrieval of patient data from identity documents. It also enables printing and reading of doctor referrals in the encoded form. Transmission of such documents in electronic format between different medical centers reduces the time of patient registration and admission, while eliminating errors that might occur due to incorrect reading of handwriting.
