Asseco will enable hospitals to issue e-Referrals
E-Referrals will come into force as of January 1, 2021. As part of the ongoing pilot project, Asseco, as one of the four suppliers, has provided the software for their issue and implementation. At present, the Company enables the handling of e-Referrals at the Medical Centre in Polanica Zdrój, the Mazovian Bródno Hospital in Warsaw and the Dr Irena Gostynska Wolski Hospital SPZOZ in Warsaw. All the above-mentioned units use the Asseco Medical Management Solutions (AMMS), which is fully ready to handle electronic referrals.
Ultimately, after an e-Referral is issued by a doctor, patients will receive an informational printout containing a barcode. They will also be able to choose an electronic referral as an SMS or e-mail containing a 4-digit verification code - PIN (options active only for holders of an Internet Patient Account). Then, a patient will be able to make an appointment by phone.
After e-Prescriptions, e-Referrals are the next stage of the informatization of the Polish healthcare system, in which Asseco has been actively involved. In my opinion, the implementation of electronic referrals should bring key benefits to patients, including improved quality of their treatment and easier access to medical services, said Krzysztof Groyecki, Vice President of the Management Board of Asseco Poland.
The positive effects of the introduction of e-Referrals will also be felt by healthcare professionals, who will receive full patient data, so that registration will take place automatically. We are glad that Asseco, as a reliable provider of healthcare solutions, has the opportunity to participate in the digitalization process of this sector, thus improving the quality of patient treatment and management of this process, Deputy Director of Sales at the Healthcare Division, Asseco Poland.
The pilot project as well as providing patients with access to e-Referrals is carried out in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and the Centre for Health Information Systems. At this stage, the implementation of e-Referrals is possible only in places where selected medical facilities are located. As of January 1, 2021, electronic referrals will be available throughout the country.
